Instructions:  Say the following out loud in Japanese.  (Check the answer key on page 2.)

 

1. May I bring my friend to the party?  I’d like to invite Noriko san.

 

2. A: May I drink coffee in the classroom?

 

3. B: You are not allowed to drink coffee and tea etc, but you may drink water.

 

4. A: May I make a copy?

 

5. B: Since the sorter is broken, please don’t use it.

 

6. Please do not talk during when (you are working on) a test.

 

7. A: Won’t you come with us to bowling tomorrow?

 

8. B: Yes, let’s go.

 

9. B: I’m sorry. I’m a bit busy tomorrow, so…. [Response to #7]

 

10. A: Do you know how to use this vacuum machine?

 

11. B: No, I don’t.

 

12. A: Have you done your homework for next week yet?

 

13. B: No, I haven’t yet. /  Yes, I have already done it.

 

14. A: I’ve had fever since yesterday.  I’d like to go to a hospital….

 

15. B: Your complexion is bad.  You may be absent from the seminar.

 

16. A: Is Soko Gakuen open today?

 

17. B: Today is Sunday, so it’s closed.

 

18. When I have a headache, I take ibuprofen or aspirin.

2. A: May I drink coffee in the classroom?

きょうしつで　コーヒーを　のんでもいいですか。

コーヒーやおちゃをのんではいけませんが、みずは　のんでもいいです。
